Who Am I?

Hi. My name is Daniel Shorkend, and I'm a South African artist currently living in Israel.

My inspiration is drawn from many sources: the wisdoms of Kabbalah, the East and philosophy, as well as mathematics, science and of course the history and theory of art itself. The intellectual harmonizes with my feeling, intuitions, and instinct. It is this fusion that gives rise to my abstract expressionistic style, to the use of symbols and signs and the freedom of gesture, color and texture that I explore in the act of painting.
